DescriptionThis course will cover how the LAFD built their drone program and go into detail on requirements for becoming a drone pilot, pertinent FAA regulations and licensing requirements, types of drones, use scenarios, and data management software. In addition, the course discuss how hazmat meters and thermography can be integrated for use during hazmat incidents.

ObjectiveThe session will present an update with findings of the state and local CUPA workgroup efforts over the past two years.
DescriptionCalEPA has been working with CUPAs, CalOES, FEMA, and FEMAs contractor Chainbridge to evaluate the CBRNResponder web based tools ability to support California emergency response. This includes use by CalEPA for coordinating large scale hazmat responses, by the Unified Program to support an electronic and operationalized Area Plan, and by CUPAs to support administrative and response requirements. This session presents findings from that effort.

ObjectiveDevelop a basic understanding of the key components of CERS data that can help in HAZMAT emergency response, specifically using PEAC HAZMAT software.
DescriptionEmergencies involving HAZMAT are low-frequency, high-consequence events. The facility data collected by CUPA's is critical in creating situational awareness for first responders to stay safe along with the public. We'll use real-life scenarios to illustrate how the Los Angeles Fire Department, CAL-OES and countless other emergency response agencies in California use systems like PEAC software along with GIS/CAD programs for safer HAZMAT outcomes.

DescriptionIdentification and hazard assessment (IDHA) plays a crucial role in responding to hazmat incidents. This course will discuss tools for identifying materials and their properties, understanding the dynamics of an incident and ensuring a safe, effective response. Topics will include resources for IDHA (placards/labels, SDSs, WISER, etc.), awareness of multiple hazards, reassessing hazards as information changes, and analysis of actual incidents.
