GERARD (JERRY) AARONS, Senior Engineering Geologist - DTSC Gerard (Jerry) Aarons, PG, CHg is a Senior Engineering Geologist (Technical) within the Geological Services Branch of Cal/EPAs Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Berkeley, California. Joined DTSC in 2009 and since 2018 has served as a scientific and technical advisor to programs within DTSCs Site Mitigation and Restoration Program (SMRP), aka Cleanup Program and Permitting, as well as other agencies on geologic and hydrogeologic site characterization, interpretation, groundwater contaminant fate & transport, vapor intrusion assessments/modeling, hydraulic pump testing, site remediation/mitigation assessment and technologies. Active team member in drafting/training staff on DTSCs existing regulatory guidance including: newer guidance for assessing the potential for future Sea-Level Rise (Climate Change) in relation to DTSC regulated hazardous waste/substances sites; Cal/EPA DTSC and Waterboards 2023 Supplemental Vapor Intrusion Guidance; and, updating Interstate Technology and Regulatory Councils (ITRCs) soon to be released Vapor Intrusion guidance.
