Lauren Zeise, Director, CalEPA Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment. I lead and oversee the department that provides scientific information that supports regulatory actions by other CalEPA departments, especially for chemical risks. We develop health advisory levels for air and drinking water contaminants, provide sport fish advisories, implement science aspects of the Proposition 65 program, evaluate community exposures from oil/gas production, support emergency response. We train physicians to recognize pesticide illness and provide advice and peer review on pesticide evaluations. We convene processes to identify chemical priorities for Biomonitoring California. Regarding environmental justice and cumulative impacts we've developed and continue to improve CalEnviroScreen that identifies burdened communities for regulatory attention and investment, and analyze the benefits/impacts of California's greenhouse gas programs on disadvantaged communities. Our climate change indicators work retrospectively tracks impacts on California's physical systems, wildlife, vegetation, humans, and climate. We do risk specialized risk assessment, e.g., neurobehavioral impacts on children of synthetic food dyes, and health impacts of playing on synthetic turf fields.
