Why This Work Matters

Protecting People, Communities and the Environment

Hazardous materials can pose risks to health, property, and the environment. Professionals working in this field help prevent accidents and contamination through inspection, prevention, emergency planning, regulatory programs, and environmental protection.

California's Unified Program brings important environmental and hazardous materials programs together at the local level. Students can explore the program areas and learn how state and local professionals work together to protect California communities.
