BRAD HOFFMAN, VP Engineering and R&D - Tanknology

Mr. Hoffman has over 30 years of experience with Underground Storage Tank systems, testing and compliance. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa and currently serves as Vice President of Engineering and R&D for Tanknology. He develops testing equipment and protocols, and manages the safety, quality, and training programs. He is active in PEI and API committees, and holds a Class A Engineering License in CA as well as several state contractor licenses. He is a former field engineer and program manager for Exxon.

BRAD WILSON, Cultivation Manager - Canndescent

Brad Wilson is Cultivation Manager at Canndescent, a Santa Barbara based Cannabis company cultivating in Desert Hot Springs, California. Prior to working at Canndescent, Brad owned multiple construction businesses, focusing on Soundproofing and large scale commercial projects. With his construction based skill set mastered, Brad spent his extra time and resources learning how to create indoor growth chambers; sharing his newfound expertise with dozens of commercial scale growers and their associates who were embarking on the creation of their own personal growth chamber projects.. Two years ago Brad was approached to help launch a cannabis company that was focused on compliance within the state of California, while bringing the consumer an untouched category of cannabis: premium flower. Canndescent was born and Brad lead the company in building the first ever, fully permitted cultivation site in Southern California. Brad continues to drive new build projects with Canndescent, as well as taking lead on navigating Californias rules and regulations on all State and Municipal levels.

BRENDA TEN BRUGGENCATE, Deputy Director of Environmental Protection - Santa Fe Springs Fire

Brenda ten Bruggencate is the Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Division of the Santa Fe Springs Department of Fire-Rescue. She has been with the Department since 1992. Her last 22 years have been spent as a CUPA and Fire Code inspector as well as a hazardous materials emergency responder. Brenda is currently the CUPAs Enforcement Coordinator but also specializes in underground tank installation and closure, is an ICC Certified UST Inspector, and served four years as the Co-Chair of the Southern California UST Technical Advisory Group. She holds a Masters of Science in Geology from California State University, Fullerton, a Hazardous Materials Management Certificate from the University of California, Riverside, a Hazardous Materials Specialist Certificate from CSTI, and is CalEPA certified APSA Inspector. In 2008, she was awarded "Outstanding CUPA - Individual".

BRIAN ABEEL, Sr. ESC - DTSC

Mr. Brian Abeel has over 29 years experience working with various Federal, State, and local agencies, as well as the public of California. He began his career in 1988 with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) as a student assistant while attending college. After graduating in 1990 from the University of California at Davis with a B.S. degree in Bio Chemistry, he worked for DTSC as a Hazardous Substances Scientist inspecting hazardous waste generator, treatment, storage, and disposal facilities, and working with peace officers investigating hazardous waste crimes. In 1999, he transferred to the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services working in the Hazardous Materials Section as a Hazardous Substances Scientist. And, now as a Senior Emergency Services Coordinator, where he is tasked with SERC Coordination, Emergency Response Planning and Coordination, Spill Release Reporting, Hazardous Materials Team Typing, Hazardous Material Disclosure, and Improving Multi-Agency Emergency Response to Major Hazardous Materials Incidents in the State of California.

BRIAN ESCAMILLA, Clan Lab Program Manager and Principal Instructor - Network Environ Systems

Brian Escamillas primary responsibilities with NES, Inc. are developing, scheduling, and updating all Clan Lab courses and field guides. He also trains instructors and ensures they are provided with the most current information. Brian has been an instructor with NES since 2002 and has trained thousands of personnel across the United States in various narcotics related classes. Mr. Escamilla has researched and manufactured methamphetamine, PCP, MDMA, methcathinone, fentanyl, euphoria, and various other drugs in a controlled laboratory setting. As a court qualified Expert Witness, Mr. Escamilla has testified in both the State and Federal court systems. He has a well-respected reputation for providing testimony in the areas of crime scene investigation, controlled substances, blood alcohol, and clandestine laboratories. His knowledge and opinions are sought after by such eminent disseminators of information as Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and CBC News. He has published over 35 papers, conducted over 70 workshops, and given over 15 conference presentations related to narcotics and clandestine laboratories at conferences all over the United States.

BRIDGETTE DESHIELDS, Principal Scientist - Integral Consulting

Ms. Bridgette DeShields has 30 years of experience and is a specialist in regulatory strategy, site investigation, site remediation, sediment and water quality management, and environmental toxicology. She has managed programs ranging from large site investigations to screening and quantitative ecological and human health risk assessments. She also designed and participated in dredging program management, field evaluations, bioaccumulation studies, literature reviews, and specially designed study programs. Her work has been focused on sediment assessments and waterfront projects with natural resource components and complex regulatory frameworks. She also has technical expertise in the area of bioaccumulation and bioavailability. Ms. DeShields has developed risk-based levels for petroleum compounds and published in the area of produced water management. She has led technical sessions and workshops on risk assessment, petroleum hydrocarbons and emerging contaminants for the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, the Industrial Environmental Association, and the Association for Environmental Health and Sciences.

BRITTANY SHEAHAN, Environmental Scientist - DTSC

Brittany Sheahan is an Environmental Scientist with the Department of Toxic Substances Control. She is currently an inspector for DTSC's San Diego Border Unit conducting truck stop inspections at the CA/Mexico Ports of Entry with the CBP HAZMAT Unit. Brittany is also the Import/Export Coordinator for DTSC, managing all notifications to import or export hazardous waste from California. She also provides training on import/export requirements to the Maquiladora industry in Mexico.

BRUCE WELDEN, Supervisor - Retired

Biography for Bruce A. Welden Retired Supervisor, Hazardous Materials Management Services Monterey County Division of Environmental Health Bruce worked in the Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response fields for over twenty five years. As Supervisor of the Monterey County Hazardous Materials Management Services (HMMS) he was in charge of all CUPA Programs, including Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Waste Management, Underground and Aboveground Tanks, and Accidental Release Prevention. In addition he oversaw the Health Departments Emergency Response Team whose trained staff respond 24/7/365 to emergency incidents requiring Health Department oversight. He is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS), a certified Hazardous Materials Specialist, a certified Underground and Aboveground Tank Inspector, and holds a Bachelors Degree from U.C. Berkeley and a Masters Degree from California State University, Hayward.
