These are the key dates that CUPA Managers and their staffs need to be aware of for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Training will introduce hazardous waste generators to Federal and State regulations applicable to hazardous waste generators. Determining generator status (LQG, SQG or CESQG), overview of RCRA waste vs. non-RCRA hazardous waste, accumulation time limits and container and tank management standards will be covered. Training will also cover the CUPAs role for inspections and enforcement of these regulations.

CUPA agencies come in all sizes from small rural agencies to large urban ones. Our CUPA profiles have visited Calaveras County, Sacramento County and San Francisco, each unique in its own way. This time we go down south to Orange County and check in with Darwin Cheng their CUPA Program Manager. Darwin has been with Orange County Environmental Health since 2007, he is the current chair of the California CUPA Forum (CFB) and sports a law Degree from Western State University of Law, which makes his appointment as the CFB enforcement issue coordinator a good fit.

The CUPA Forum Board celebrated Bill Jones 39 years of service by presenting him with a life-time achievement award. This award not only symbolizes his unwavering commitment to the Unified Programs, but it also represents his extraordinary leadership as a founding member of the CUPA Forum. The CUPA Forum Board congratulates Bill on his well deserved retirement.

Calaveras County is located in Northern California just east of Stockton in the foothills of the beautiful Sierras. Although it has a total population of just over 50,000, this rural countys natural beauty and resources are bigger than life. Calaveras boasts a spectacular scenic byway and Big Trees State Park with Giant Sequoias, truly incredible giants chronicle more than 2000 years of majesty. Steeped in history and folklore, authors such as Mark Twain and Black Bart told of the rough and tumble gold rush era. Today you can relive these yesteryears in the town of Columbia, where you can pan for gold or ride a stage coach. Enjoying its rich history, slower pace and natural beauty are what Calaveras County is all about.

Hazardous Waste Training for Unified Program Staff will provide the attendee with an overview of hazardous waste requirements from California Code of Regulations Title 22, California Health & Safety Code Chapter 6.5, and Code of Federal Regulations Title 40. The 16-hour class will utilize PowerPoint presentations, along with classroom exercises. REHS CEUs will be provided. Lunches will be provided by CHMIA.

This is a key snapshot of the Important Dates for CUPA Managers for Fiscal Year 2018-2019.

Each year our annual Unified Program Training Conference is held to train and educate regulators and
industry on a variety of topics. In an effort to provide training opportunities for those not in attendance,
the CUPA Forum Board has videotaped specific classes for subsequent posting on the CUPA Forum
website. During the videotaping, both the instructors and their visual aids (PowerPoint for example) are
captured.

This project is to edit the recorded footage, synchronizing the presenter and visual aids. The desired
approach is to start with a narrative insert (for example the name of the presentation and speaker), and
to have the video transition between the presenter and visual aids throughout the course, rather than a
static video of the presenter. In addition, specific videos may be identified by the Project Manager or his
designee to be used for certification or continuing education credit. Each of these videos should have a
mechanism to ensure students watch the entire video and track viewer progress. This may be in the
form of video stops or other tools to ensure students don't just turn on the video and walk away.
