   Objective
Students will learn the basics of risk communication, which is informing people about potential hazards to their person, home or community.
   Description
Students will learn methods of clear and concise communication about risks through message mapping and creating messages including social media. Risk communication uses tools that help develop an accurate understanding of a situation, possible actions to take, and to enable participation in decision-making. We will discuss how to tailor a message to specific target audiences and how to acknowledge outrage factors to increase understanding.
